A special team investigating the murder of Youth Congress worker S.P. Shuaib at Edayannur here on February 12 arrested two more Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers from a nearby area on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as K. Sanjay, 23, and K. Rajath, 23, both natives of Palayode, near Mattannur. Two more persons are in the custody of the police and are being questioned to ascertain their involvement in the murder.

Iritty Deputy Superintendent of Police Prajeesh Thottathil said Sanjay was involved in hiding the country-made bombs carried by the assailants while attacking Shuhaib late night at an eatery near Edayannur on February 12.

The police seized an unused crude bomb from a nearby spot on the basis of his confession statement, he said. Rajath was an informant who passed on information to the team of assailants about the movement of Shuaib.

Police officers close to the investigation team said the four persons, including Sanjay and Rajath, were nabbed during a raid by the investigation team on Wednesday night.

The investigation team is looking for one more accused who was directly involved in the killing. More people are likely to be included as accused in the case for their role in the conspiracy, they said.

The CPI(M) workers earlier arrested in the murder case are Akash Thillankery, Rijin Raj, Anwar Sadath, K. Akhil, T.K. Askar, and Jithin. The three swords seized by the police team at nearby Velliyamparamba were sent for forensic examination to find whether they were the ones used by the assailants to murder the Youth Congress worker.
