New Delhi, Oct 23: A 20-year-oldwoman fell unconscious in a crowded swimming pool atDelhi Rides water park on Saturday afternoon and died later in a hospital.

faints
Savita had gone there with some NGO volunteers. She didn't know how to swim and suffered from epilepsy. Apparently, nobody noticed that she was in trouble until her unconscious form started to float.

She was pulled out and rushed to a hospital where doctors tried to resuscitate her for 45 minutes but failed.

An FIR was lodged but no arrests were made at the time of filing of this report. Savita's family, though, accused the water park management of negligence and demanded action against them.

Police said Savita had been learning tailoring at an NGO called Apna in Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar, and was simultaneously pursuing BA from Delhi University. She stayed at a slum cluster. Her father died in 2013 and Savita was supporting her family by doing odd jobs.

Her mother worked as a maid and her two younger brothers went to a government school in west Delhi.

NGO officials told the police that Savita was with 80 other students on an annual trip for students and teachers. They had arrived at the park around 2pm, and the students were allowed on only a few rides so that the teachers could monitor them.

Savita's friends said she slid down a water chute a few times. But on her last attempt, she fell unconscious. "A lifeguard found her and alerted the teachers," said DCP Romil Baaniya.

"She might have had a fit due to excitement," said a relative. Police too, said Savita was found floating in 1.5-foot deep water.
