Bengaluru, Oct 24: The Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare has approved the Karnataka government's proposal for establishment of three new medical colleges in the state, under the Centrally-sponsored Scheme.
According to a notification issued on October 23, the new medical colleges will be established in Chikkamagaluru, Haveri and Yadgiri districts.
Under the scheme, the Central and state governments will share the cost on 60:40 ratio, respectively. Each college will be established at an estimated cost of Rs 325 crore each.
