Abu Dhabi, Mar 4: An Indian expat won Dh12 million in Big Ticket Abu Dhabi raffle on Sunday.
Rogy George is based in Kuwait and hails from Alappuzha district of Kerala. "I cannot believe this," an emotional George said when Richard, who conducted the raffle, called from the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Two hours later after the unexpected call, George still found it hard to believe that he has actually become a millionaire. "This was totally unexpected. I was resting and just out of curiosity had a look at who the winner was. I saw my name and immediately the phone rang. The feeling is still sinking in," George told Khaleej Times over phone from Kuwait.
"As usual a Malayali has won," he added. In the first two months of this year, people from the south Indian state of Kerala had been winning the mega prize. "I am settled here with my family for over 12 years. My daughter is in grade 10. We were planning to return to India in a year or two," said George, a supervisor at the purchase department of a private firm, about his future plans.
George had bought the ticket online and usually buys them in bulk. "I clearly don't remember, this is my fourth or fifth attempt, if not sixth one. I purchase individually and usually three tickets at a time."
The Keralite hasn't got any immediate plans to do with his unexpected bonanza. "I don't have many unfulfilled wishes. I don't have any set plan to do with this money if I had won. I will surely be leading a normal life," said George.
There were six winners from India and one from Sri Lanka among the seven announced.
