Mysuru, Sept 26: The car accident in which Sandalwood actors Darshan Thoogudeepa, Devaraj and Prajwal Devaraj were injured earlier this week, got a new twist today.
Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr A Subramanyeshwara Rao said there were five members in the car during the accident. But the medico-legal report said that there were six people in the vehicle during the accident.
While four were treated in a private hospital, others escaped unhurt, according to the police.
The Commissioner, however said, it was too early to ascertain the clear details and investigation was on. He added that if the car was shifted from the accident spot, in the presence of the jurisdictional police, then action would be initiated against police personnel for not ascertaining the case details correctly.
It may be recalled that, soon after the mishap, the car was shifted from the accident spot. However, later it was brought back to the V V Puram police station. The Commissioner said that the car was released after inspection (mahzar).
The mishap took place at around 3 a.m. on Monday. Police sources claimed as it was raining heavily in Mysuru probably the driver of the car - Audi Q7 may have lost control over the vehicle near JSS Urban Haat, a crafts bazaar, on ORR, and hit the electricity pole. The SUV belonged to Darshan. They were on their way back to Bengaluru when the incident happened. The actors had visited one of their friend's place in Hinkal and were returning.
VV Puram traffic police have booked the driver Anthony Roy under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)– section 279 – Rash driving on a public way and sections 337& 338 endangering life or person safety of others and probing.
