New Delhi, Dec 15: Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane's father, Madhukar Baburao Rahane, was arrested on Friday in Kolhapur after his car hit a woman, who succumbed to her injuries in one of the local hospitals.
The 67-year-old woman, who was identified as Ashatai Kamble, met the accident on the national highway near Kagal bus station. It is, however, unclear as to who was driving the vehicle.
Reports so far have suggested that Rahane's father was travelling with the family and driving his Hyundai i20 when the accident took place. People immediately gathered at the accident site and took the woman to a nearby government hospital but the lady succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.
The Kolhapur Police has reportedly registered a case under the IPC Act 304A, 337, 338, 279 and 184. The incident comes as a very worrying news for Rahane who isn’t with the household. The cricketer is presently with the rest of the Indian cricket team which is involved in a 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The last match of the series will be played on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.
