Kundapur, March 5: In recognition of her social service, Prathima Pai, an Anganawady worker in Uppinakudru in Kundapur Taluk has been selected for a National award.
She had also received State level award on February 23 this year given by the State government. In all, eight Anganawady workers across the state have been chosen for this award. The award will be presented on March 8 in Bangalore.
She has served as Anganawady worker in Uppinakudru for the last 28 years. She played a key role in the development of Uppinakudru Anganawady as well as imparting a quality education for the children.
She was trained in Ullal Anganawady Training Centre in 1983. Presently, she is managing two Sthree Shakthi self help groups. Besides, with the help of philanthropists she successfully managed to construct a building, toilets, provision of drinking water, electricity, wall clock, chairs, fan, tables and other essentials needs.
She has also created awareness on many government projects like Sandhya Suraksha, monthly allowance for widows and handicapped etc.
She has encouraged the people about the savings plan creating RD accounts in their names.
She is the daughter of late Prafulla Raghavendra Pai from Salikeri in Brahmavar.
