Ahmedabad, Oct 3: The young dalit leader Jignesh Mevani on late Tuesday evening threatened that dalit anger could burn Gujarat unless state home minister resigns over attack on one more dalit youth in the state on Tuesday.
Sharing the details on his social media platforms, Mevani claimed that one more youngster was stabbed in Limbodra village, that had seen beating up of two youngsters late last month for sporting a moustache.
“It has become difficult for dalits to live in Gujarat. It is time Home minister resigns, else anger of dalits would burn Gujarat,” Mevani said in his statement on a social media platform.
He has also urged his supporters to reach secretariat in Gandhinagar tomorrow to seek resignation of Home minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja.
According to information available so far, a youngster Digant Maheria was intercepted by two persons while he was going back home after his exams. They apparently told him that they have been offered Rs 5 lakh to kill him and then stabbed him. Several pictures of Digant with a stab wound went viral on social media.
Last heard, Digant had been taken to Gandhinagar civil hospital for treatment.
