Bengaluru, Dec 19: Hundreds of agitators were taken into custody in Karnataka on Thursday for defying prohibitory orders in force as they tried to stage protest against Citizen (Amendment) Act 2019.
In the city, agitators were taken into custody at SBM Circle and Town Hall when they tried to stage protest and dharna.
At SBM circle the agitators, members of Left parties, indulged wordy duel with Police who tried to scuttle their attempt explaining prohibitory orders in force. At Town Hall though the agitators shouted slogans 'No Violence, No Silence' the police took them into custody.
Additional Commissioner Umesh Kumar said that there were no agitation in the city as it was prohibited under Sec 144 CrPC.
