Awareness programme on financial assistance for minority students held

Mangalore, Aug 9: Bearys Academy of Learning organized an awareness programme on financial assistance for religious minority students on Saturday, at the Bearys Institute of Technology campus in Mangalore.

About 400 students from various colleges in and around Mangalore attended the program along with their parents. Representatives from related NGOs were also present.

Addressing the students Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo said that youth are the future of our country and education is the biggest asset for a human being.

The chairman of Bearys group, Syed Mohammed Beary, speaking on the occasion said, “Engineers must always seek to create. Students pursuing engineering course must therefore always put in their best efforts to achieve success. There is no shortcut to success but hard work.”

He briefed the students about the significance of developing an analytical mind in order to achieve success.

Mangalore North MLA Mohideen Bawa urged the students to make use of the assistance provided by the government to fulfill their educational needs. He said that education is the fundamental right of every person.

Mr. Ibrahim Kodijal, Treasurer, Jam-Iyyathul-Falah said, respecting parents, elders and teachers should be a part of every student's life.

The stage was then set for the Managing Director of Karnataka Minority Development Corporation (KMDC), Mr. Mohammed Saleem, to have an interesting interactive session with the students. Several students asked queries to which Mr.Saleem gave answers and guidance.

Zilla Panchayath member Mr. Melvin D'Souza, Minority Educational Institutions Federation President Mr. Mohammed Beary, Taluk panchayath member Mr. Muhammad, and heads of various branches of Engineering at BIT were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Palakshappa K, the Principal of BIT, welcomed the gathering. Mr.Somappa, District Manager of KMDC, rendered vote of thanks and Student welfare officer Prof. Sheikh Moidin K.M, compered and coordinated the event.
