Guwahati, May 24: Assamese actress Angurlata Deka recently made headlines not only for winning the seat of her constituency but as hottest women MLA'. The actress-turned politician won from Batadroba, a minority dominated seat, by a margin of close to 6000 votes.

The development has caused embarrassment to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Angurlata, who was popular for her “bold” performance on screen, is now a legislator of BJP, whose leaders and followers are self-proclaimed custodians of Indian culture.

The young MLA is now objectified by the sexist and misogynist on social media with the pictures of her early stint - that of a model and television actor. Several articles in leading online portals described her as the "hottest woman MLA". Her looks are given more priority than the promises she made.

Angurlata said that her being an actress would help her to connect well with her voters. She even added that she is into this field to prove that woman like her can also bring positive changes in this world.

While Angurlata is focused on the task that she has taken up, social media and press are more concerned about other aspects of her life.
Some Twitterati even went on to say that Angurlata's hotness was the main reason behind BJP's victory in Assam. The photos posted along with this article have been doing the rounds on social media since her victory was stamped on May 19.

Udupi, Oct 26: In a heartbreaking incident in Beejadi village near Kundapur in Udupi district, two young men were swept away by a powerful wave while swimming in the sea on Saturday morning.

Santosh, 21, was pulled from the water by local fishermen and residents, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Ajay, who was also caught in the wave, remains missing, according to Kundapur police.

The duo, along with friends Shreyas and Mokshith, had been staying at the Sahana Sun Caste Resort to attend a wedding. Ignoring warnings from locals about the dangers of entering the sea, the group ventured into the water. Around 9:30 a.m., a large wave suddenly engulfed them, sweeping Ajay and Santosh into deeper waters.

Police reported that Ajay hailed from Hangalli village near Kundapur, while Santosh was from Dasarahalli near Bengaluru. Expert divers have been dispatched to the scene in hopes of locating Ajay’s body.

Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday undertook fresh searches in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) linked money laundering case in which it has booked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, official sources said.

About seven-eight premises in Bengaluru and Mysuru are being covered, the sources said.

The federal agency had conducted the first round of raids in this case on October 18 when it searched the MUDA office in Mysuru and some other locations.

It also questioned some lower-rank officials of the MUDA at its Bengaluru zonal office last week.

The ED has filed a enforcement case information report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to book the CM and others taking cognisance of a Lokayukta FIR.

Siddaramaiah is facing Lokayukta and ED probes into alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife by the MUDA.

Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi B M, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, Devaraju -- from whom Mallikarjuna Swamy purchased land and gifted it to Parvathi -- and others are named as other accused in the case by the two probe agencies.

Parvathi was recently questioned by the Lokayukta.
