Mangalore, Feb 13: Members of BJP Yuva Morcha Mangalore City South constituency took out a Bharatha Gellisi ratha yatra (make India win) here on Wednesday as a precursor to visit by party's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi on February 18.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, launched the tour of a vehicle mounted 'rath' as part of the campaign.
Earlier in the day, Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit President Prathap Simha Nayak said that preparations are on full swing for the Narendra Modi rally. Door-to-door campaign has received has already started, Rathaythre and padayathre is being held in all the eight assembly constituencies to mobilise people to attend the rally. For the success of the rally, 34 committees have been constituted and 3,000 volunteers are working on it. At least one lakh people are likely to take part in the Modi rally.
He said that the BJP will launch 'Nimma dhwani and namma pranalike' (your voice and our manifesto), under which suggestions will be invited from the general public on different subjects to be included in the manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, on February 14. The programme will be carried out till month end to mobilise suggestions from general public.
Forms will be given to citizens to fill it on their dreams and aspirations for the country, which will be included in the manifesto.
Chai pe charcha' or discussion over tea from a tea stall has received overwhelming response from the general public. Modi tea stalls have been opened at 30 places in the district.
Nayak said that the BJP believes that this year's general election as an important milestone in the history of the country for its integrated development.
“The BJP believes in good leadership, good governance and integrated development of the country. The experts at the national-level have already laid down a blue print for the move of the party, he aded.
At the same time, 'One Note and One Vote' campaign has also been started which aim at curtailing the practice of wooing voters by distributing currency.
“Instead, the BJP is collecting one note from the public and urging them to vote the party in the coming general elections for a better rule,” he said.
