Mangalore, Dec 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Mangalore on Sunday celebrated the victory of assembly elections in the Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan states.
As soon as the election results were out, the local BJP leaders and workers gathered in front of party office distributed sweets. The jubilant saffron cadres burst crackers across the city including Pumpwell and PVS Circle. They also shouted slogans calling Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as the future prime minister of India.
Addressing a group of BJP workers near PVS Circle, Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that people of four north Indian states have taught a good lesson to Congress party ahead of looming Lok Sabha elections.
“Despite widespread anti-propaganda against BJP, it has succeeded to unseat Congress in Delhi, retain Madhya Pradesh and assuming power in Rajasthan. We have defeated Congress in Chhattisgarh too,” said Mr Kateel sending a big thank you to voters of four states.
“People of India, who are fed up with the corruption of Congress, now have a major demand. They want to see Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as India's Prime Minister at the earliest,” he said.
He said that Sunday's election results have Mr Modi's popularity once again. It is time for Congress to repent for cheating people for years and making India weak under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, he added.
Speaking on the occasion MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said termed the election results as the beginning of new era and end of dynastic rule in India.
MLC Monappa Bhandary predicted complete wash out of Congress in impending Lok Sabha election.
Former MLA N Yogish Bhat, and city BJP leaders Srikar Prabhu, Sudhir Shetty, Nithin Kumar, Pushpalatha Gatti and advocate Raghavendra Rao were present among others.
