Jain monk passes away in Dharmasthala

Dharmasthala, Feb 20: Nispruha Sagar Munimaharaj, 75, a Jain monk, passed away at Dharmasthala on Tuesday.

He is said to have been on ‘Sallekhana Vrata’ (fast unto death) from February 18.

The monk, who arrived at the temple town on February 3 for the fourth 10-day Mahamastakabhisheka celebrations, which concluded on Monday, was staying in the ‘kuteera’ near Chandranatha Swami Basadi.

A release from the Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple office said the monk went for ‘samadhi’ and passed away around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. He was from Kishangarh in Rajasthan.

The last rites were performed near the basadi.
