Kasaragod, Feb 26: A 48-year-old man was killed after he was hit by an ambulance at Mogral-Puthur here in the early hours of Sunday. The accident occurred around 1.20 a.m. as Aithappa Poojari, a casual labourer, was hit by the ambulance that was returning from a Mangaluru hospital after dropping a patient.
Mr. Poojari, a resident of Mogral-Puthur village, was going back to his home after attending a Theyyam festival at his ancestral home at nearby Pervad.
He was trying to cross the road when the ambulance, run by the Lion’s Club of Payyanur, hit him and killed him on the spot, the police said.
