Mangaluru: 2 women held for theft

Mangaluru, Nov 9: The Central Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested two women for alleged theft of articles from houses in Mangaluru in the last few days.

The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Parvathi (29) of Kavoor and Jayalakshmi (27) of Kunjathbail.

The police have recovered 91.23 grams of gold ornaments pledged in some financial institutions. The police said the two accused scouted for locked houses in the guise of rag pickers.

They stole gold ornaments from these houses in the day and pledged them in financial institutions to live a lavish life.

The police said that the two had been arrested earlier in connection with cases of theft registered with the Mangaluru South Police and Kavoor Police.
