Bangalore, Feb 18: The CBI court on Monday allowed former minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy to get treatment for back pain at a private hospital in the City. Reddy, an accused in the mining scam, is lodged in the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara.
Judge R M Nayak allowed Reddy to be hospitalised till February 24. According to Reddy's advocate C H Hanumantharaya, the former minister has been suffering from excruciating back pain for the past four months, especially in the lower spine. The pain sometimes shoots up to the neck. He said that Reddy was treated at Nimhans and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital as an out-patient, but his condition needed a specialist's intervention at the private hospital.
The court allowed Reddy to get treatment under the surveillance of the jail authorities. It said that no mediaperson or visitor will be allowed to meet him. The advocate said Reddy will be admitted to the hospital on Tuesday.
