Mysuru, Jun 5: The body of Somashekar (40), a scientist with the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), who was washed away in Chunchanakatte falls, was retrieved on Monday.
On Sunday, Somashekar, along with his wife and children had come to the falls on a picnic. Even as he was trying to take a selfie, the water level in the falls went up suddenly and he fell from a height of 30 feet. His body was retrieved with the help of fishermen and local people on Monday. The post-mortem was conducted at the taluk hospital and the body handed over to the relatives.
Somashekar hailed from Bagganahalli in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk of Tumakuru district and his parents reside in Chikkabanaswadi, Bengaluru. He was married to Prathima Tripati, Lucknow. The couple have five-year-old daughter Ishani. He was serving CFTRI as a senior scientist for two years.
