Bengaluru, Aug 25: C.M. Ibrahim of the Congress has been elected unopposed in the byelection to the Karnataka Legislative Council. As Opposition parties did not field candidates, Mr. Ibrahim was elected unopposed, said Assembly in-charge secretary, S. Murthy.
The byelection was necessitated following the death of Vimala Gowda, BJP MLC. The newly elected member’s tenure will end in June 2018. Mr. Ibrahim served as Union Minister in the H.D. Deve Gowda government. He lost the 2013 Assembly elections from Bhadravati constituency in Shivamogga district.
