Trendiest Man' from Mangalore all set to woo Dubai

Mangalore: A lad from Mangalore, with a humble background has become talk of the town. Son of a bus driver, who went to Dubai in search of greener pastures has grabbed the attention of the glamour world by becoming one of the forerunners in Mr Dubai pageant.

Mohommad Shakeer, son of Nayaz Ahmed, a resident of Pandeshwar, who is a bus driver by profession is on the mind of every Dubai resident who has been following up the Mr Dubai pageant.

Shakeer landed in Dubai as a computer operator and today is a household face. Leaving behind 480 contestants, Shakeer has made a place among 15 finalists. Surprisingly three of the 15 are Indians and Shakeer is the one Kannadiga and a Mangalorean to top it all.

Becoming a model was a dream for Shakeer and he had done some small assignments.

However, he reached close to his dream during last February when theStar Hunt' contest was held where Shakeer emerged victorious. With this, Shakeer started getting several modeling assignments from reputed companies and malls.

Soon Mr Dubai pageant was in the pipeline and Shakeer plunged into it to try his luck.

An alumnus of St Aloysius college, Shakeer has a BA degree. He simultaneously completed his computer education and reached Dubai to work as a computer operator. While he earned for himself and his family he never let his passion for modeling die off.

Today he is just a step away from realizing his dreams.

If he wins Mr Dubai pageant, then there will be no looking back for him because from there the galore of advertisements and modeling assignments will take off.

The final rounds will start from November 29 onwards and the results will be out on November 30.

“Last year, the title was bagged by an Iranian. No Indian has bagged this title so far. I am confident of returning to India as Mr Dubai,” says Shakeer recalling all the struggle he had done to become a model while he lived in Mangalore.

Shakeer who has acted with Mohanlal in a movie namedCasanova' is also looking forward to acting opportunities.

While he even had a chance to act in a Shahrukh Khan starred movie which was shot in Dubai, it somehow did not work out.

“I am more inclined towards modeling. Films are my second option. However, I am exploring avenues of acting in daily soaps,” he said adding that in India a model has to lead a luxurious life while in Dubai even a common man can become a model and still lead a simple life.

He has already done assignments for big brands like Nike, Reebok, Fila, CK, Western Union money transfer among others and Mr Dubai will only bring him better offers in future.

While Dubai media has already christened him astrendiest man', Shakeer is waiting for yet another feather in his crown.
