Mangaluru, Apr 6: In a heartrending tragedy, a teenage girl was charred to death when her house was gutted in fire at a remote village in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
Her parents Hosamane Ramanna Poojary and Shashikala, residents of Kukrabettu in Marodi gram panchayat limits, were away from home when the incident took place. Both of them are labourers.
Her brother, who recently finished II PUC, is working in a sweet stall in Mangaluru to make use of the vacation.
On Monday, one of the neighbours noticed flames emanating from Bhagyashree’s house and informed her mother, who prepares mid day meals at a nearby school. They broke opened the locked front door and to their horror they found charred body of Bhagyashree. The exact reason for fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Bhagyashree, who usually stays at her aunt’s house in Hosmar during her college days, had come home because of holidays. She was preparing for final examination. She had secured the first rank in Beltangady taluk in SSLC and distinction in II PUC.
