K Koragappa Naik, president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat speaking at the formal programme held at St. Sebastian Hall said that the Zilla Panchayath has planned to identify disabled persons and distribute bicycle and wheelchairs to them. There are plans to encourage interested disabled students to complete their pre university education through home tutoring, keeping their convenience in mind.
“Special importance will be given to endosulfan affected areas and funds have been earmarked in the Zilla Panchayat budget for the same. Major part of Rs 2 crore budget will be spent in providing basic amenities in these areas,” he said adding that only one person has applied for the fixed deposit of Rs 50,000, which is being provided by the government during wedding of specially disabled, he added.
Meanwhile teachers of specially abled schools of district KS Shivappa, Ravindra Shetty, Ramya K Aithal, K Damodhar, Josthna, Vanitha, Shobha Ivan, Jenet rebello, Sr Lilly, Pooja Padival and Supritha were felicitated for their service for specially disabled children.
