Dammam, December 1: The new rule of mandatory fingerprinting of all international passengers has been causing delays at immigration counters and resulting in confusion at airports in Saudi Arabia.
As per a new Saudi Government directive, fingerprinting of all incoming and departing passengers (even on Exit reentry Visa), is being done at immigration counters while stamping the passports.
Due to this new procedure adopted by the authorities, passengers are facing inconveniences. Many of the counters are without any staff and those managing the queues are acting impolite, many passengers have complained. Some even groused that they were not even allowed to leave the long queues and take some rest in the nearby chairs.
Most airlines have started closing Check-In counters two hours before flight departures. Because of the delay at the immigration counters, passengers are being requested to report at the airports at least 4 hours before the departure of their respective flights to ensure timely check in and boarding.
Effective from 25 November, The Immigration Authority at Dammam Airport also has implemented the new procedure that all passengers departing from Dammam Airport will have to undergo fingerprinting upon departure and arrival. This Procedure is applicable to Saudi Iqama holders with Exit Reentry visa passengers as well.
