Belagavi, Dec 3: The union government has earmarked Rs 12 crore each for Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad, Davangere, Shivamogga and Mangaluru, for preparing an action plan under the Smart Cities initiative.
Replying to a question by B Y?Raghavendra (BJP), Minister of State for Municipal?Administration Eshwar Khandre said Rs 1 crore had already been released to each city.
Under the Smart City mission, the Central government is supposed to provide Rs 500 crore for each city over five years with states making matching contribution.
The rest of resources will come from loans, public private partnership (PPP), convergence of various schemes of Central and state governments besides own resources of urban local bodies.
