Fake passport: Dubai-Mangalore passenger held

Bajpe, Dec 31: The Immigration officers at Mangalore International Airport arrested a person for allegedly possessing a fake passport on Sunday.

The arrested has been identified as Abdul Rehman (52) of Bekalkote in Kasaragod.

He landed at Mangalore airport at around 5 p.m. on December 29 from Dubai. Sources said he was accused of making fake immigration stamps of Mumbai and Dubai immigration offices with the help of Mumbai based one Rafeeq Begum Beary.

In 2011, Kozikode crime branch in Kerala had registered a case of fake passport against him. He used to manipulate name and addresses. Though his name was Kote Kariath Abdul Rehman, he had a passport with name Rehman Chittari Ahmed.

A case was registered at the Bajpe police station and he was produced before the court. Kerala police may take custody of him for further investigation.

Mangaluru: Police have arrested five miscreants belonging to saffron outfits for pelting stones at a masjid at Katipalla near Surathkal on the outskirts of the city last night. 

The arrested have been identified as Bharat, Chennappa, Nitin, Manu and Sujit all residents of Surathkal and surrounding areas. Among them, Bharat is said to be a rowdy sheeter. 

The miscreants, who came on two motorbikes late on Sunday night, pelted stones at Masjidul Huda, located at 3rd block of Katipalla on the eve of Miladunnabi.  

Confirming the incident, City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said that investigation is in progress and a case has been registered at Surathkal police station.
