Mangaluru, May 23: Veteran medical scientist, cardiologist, educationist and author B M Hegde was admitted to Kasturba Medical College Hospital at Ambedkar Circle here on Monday, with illness.
According to hospital sources, Dr Hegde suffered a stroke and left hemiparesis. “He is in the Intensive Care Unit and his condition is stable,” said Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent and unit head of the hospital.
78-year-old former Vice Chancellor of Manipal University is a visiting faculty at many universities across the world. He was born in Pangala in Udupi district in an ethnic Tulu-Speaking Bunt family. He was active till Monday.
