Bengaluru, Dec 7: A Muslim businessman in Karnataka has won the hearts of many Hindus by donating 1.5 guntas of land worth around Rs 1 crore for revamping a Hanuman temple. 65-year-old H M G Basha, who is into cargo business, is the man who set an example of communal amity during times of heightened religious intolerance.

A resident of Belathur in Kadugodi, Basha's family-owned three acres of land located adjacent to a small Hanuman temple in Valagerepura, Hosakote taluk, Bengaluru Rural district.

Devotees have been worshipping at the temple for over three decades. But Basha noticed that of late they were struggling to find enough space to go around the temple and offer pooja.

“During this time, villagers also decided to renovate the temple but were short of space. Realising the requirement, I offered to donate 1.5 guntas out of the three-acre land by convincing the hesitant villagers,” Basha said. The land is located at a crucial place, with Old Madras Road passing right next to it.

Interestingly, the temple trust had asked only for one cent of the land. But keeping in mind the influx of devotees, Basha was generous and gave 1.5 guntas.

“All my family members agreed to this," Basha said. "Today we live, tomorrow we perish. When uncertainty is lurking in our lives, what will we gain by spreading hatred against each other?"

Basha said what one does "must benefit the society at large", and that was his only intention.

With the gift by Basha, Sri Veeranjaneyaswami Devalaya Seva Trust has embarked on renovating the temple at a cost of Rs 1 crore.

The poster lauding Basha's charity, displayed by villagers beside the main road, has gone viral.

I personally don't agree with Mr. Basha. there are many villages where masjids are not available and also waiting to buy land to build masjids, HE SHOULD HAVE GIVE IN CHARITY HERE. and also I have never ever heard that Hindus donate land or money for masjid,, but they always look where they can demolish the masjid and built temple.. in this case and time his move is not fare to the Muslims..

Instead of donating to any religion support , its far better if he did that for humanity like to build hospital or education center with good facilities that poor people can afford it .

Good move by Basha. I appreciate his generosity. However, hate monger anti nationals will still raise question of Bash being Indian national. Tomorrow Basha will be asked to prove that he is Indian. I appreciate Hindu villagers for respecting + honoring Basha on this issue. Can we expect same things from hidus towards people of other religion?

Journalist Mohammad Hijazi has been killed in an Israeli attack, raising the number of media workers killed by Zionist forces since the start of the war on Gaza to 220.

The Israeli regime forces killed the Palestinian writer, poet and journalist in an airstrike on northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp, according to his family.

He was among nearly 90 other Palestinians killed in Israeli bombardment across the besieged territory in the last 24 hours, according to a Gaza Health Ministry statement on Sunday.

“I don’t know if I will write to you again. I keep what I have written and am writing. Maybe it will come to light one day. I refuse a cheap death. I curse the murderer,” Hijazi wrote in a post on social media in August 2023.

“Let us in this bottom that we have finally reached, arm ourselves with patience and prayer, and count the days we have lived as a historic achievement while awaiting what is coming with a broken heart, an extinguished eye, a head held high, and a spirit that fights until the end of the road.”

Since the Israeli killing machine imposed a military siege of northern Gaza in early October intensifying its bombing attacks on the the Jabalia camp, hundreds of people have been killed.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported on Sunday that at least 88 Palestinians had been killed and 208 others injured in the past 24 hours alone.

According to media reports from central Gaza, among those killed in the latest Israeli strikes across Gaza on Sunday were three Palestinians who were living in a tent in Deir el-Balah.

A family of 15 people was also buried under the rubble in Gaza City, following a separate strike, media reported.

The Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip following a surprise operation by the Palestinian  Hamas resistance movement in October last year, killing more than 45,805 Palestinians and wounding 109,064 others.

BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath and several BJP leaders were arrested in Mangaluru during a protest organized by the Dakshina Kannada BJP Yuva Morcha near Mini Vidhana Soudha.

The protest targeted the Congress-led Siddaramaiah government, accusing it of fostering an environment of harassment and distress, which the BJP claims has led to multiple suicides among contractors and government officials.

Key Points:

Addressing the gathering before his arrest, Kamath criticized the Congress government, alleging that neither contractors nor honest officials have found peace since it assumed power. He remarked, "Suicide seems to be the only 'guarantee' under this administration."

Kamath cited the suicide of contractor Sachin, allegedly driven to death by harassment from individuals linked to Minister Priyank Kharge.

Other cases highlighted included the suicides of Chandrashekar, superintendent of the Maharshi Valmiki Development Corporation, and Rudresh, who was allegedly harassed by an aide of Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.

Kamath also referred to a Dalit inspector, Parashuram, who reportedly succumbed to alleged torture connected to Congress MLA Channareddy Patil’s son.

He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar of remaining silent due to political fears over their positions.

Prominent BJP leaders such as Ramesh Kandetthu, Premananda Shetty, Vikas Puttur, Nandan Mallya, Monappa Bhandary, Pooja Pai, Deputy Mayor Bhanumathi, and Sanjay Prabhu participated in the protest alongside party workers and municipal council members.

The protest escalated, resulting in the arrest of Kamath and other BJP leaders by the police, marking a dramatic standoff between BJP and Congress.

New Delhi: In a jibe at AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva urged him to give up what he said were the former CM's "deceitful and dishonest" political practices as a new year resolve.

The dig at Kejriwal comes in response to his letter to RSS head Mohan Bhagwat in which he has accused the BJP of "openly" distributing money and trying to get Puravanchali and Dalit voters deleted from Delhi's electoral rolls ahead of the assembly polls.

Sachdeva extended Kejriwal new year greetings in his letter and said since childhood we all make resolutions on New Year's day to give up bad habits and start something good and new.

The Delhi BJP president said he hoped that, on the first day of 2025, Kejriwal would strive to bring meaningful change by abandoning "dishonest and deceitful political practices".

As part of his New Year's resolution, Kejriwal should resolve to "never to swear in the name of his children", and "apologise for promoting liquor" and "making false assurances" of cleaning Yamuna, Sachdeva said.

He also said he hoped the AAP chief would stop "playing with the sentiments" of Delhi's women, elders, and religious communities by making "false promises" and will not "associate with or accept donations" from "anti-national forces" for political gains.

"May God give you the strength to walk on the path of righteousness," Sachdeva said concluding the letter.
