Mangaluru, Sept 15: The activist of Aam Aadmi Party have threatened to launch a legal battle against Mangaluru City Corporation for failing to shift the utility lines before concretizing the roads in the city.
Backed by AAP, the members MCC Civic Group, an action committee of people on civic issues in the city, staged a protest at Bendor on Thursday against civic body taking up a road development work near St. Agnes College without shifting the utility lines.
They said that the corporation engineers were laying the concrete road without shifting the telephone and power supply cables, water supply lines and underground sewage lines.
They have begun laying the bed concrete upon the cables and pipelines without shifting them.
If the work was completed in such a condition it would sure hamper the communication network, water supply after allowing traffic on the road, Gerald Towers, an activist and a member of the group said.
He urged the corporation to resume the work only after shifting the utility lines.
Activists of AAP, who were also part of the protest, said that they would lodge a criminal complaint against the corporation if it went ahead with the works in such a condition.
