Speaking to media persons at a press conference here on Monday, he said that though the electoral results in four states were not up to the party's expectations, the party has located its mistakes and will rectify the same.
“We know where we have gone wrong and we will try to rectify our shortcomings. However, it is false that the soaring victory of the BJP in the four states was due to 'Modi wave'. Their victory was mainly due to the work and achievements of their local leaders. Even the success of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, which is due to their agenda of a strong Janlokpal Bill, is temporary,” he said, opining that the high rise in prices of commodities in recent times was one of the reasons for Congress' defeat.
He said that the Congress was confident of forming UPA-III government following the Lok Sabha elections next year.
KPCC Meet in B'lore
“Preparations are on-going for Lok Sabha elections, in which Congress will win maximum number of seats from Karnataka state. As part of preparatory measures, a meeting of all KPCC members will be held in Bangalore on Tuesday, where the progress and achievements of Congress party in the state will be discussed, along with necessary steps to rectify our mistakes,” he said.
He said that a co-ordination committee meeting would be held in Bangalore on Saturday in the presence of Congress leader Digvijay Singh.
On being asked why the people would elect Congress back to power, Mr D'Souza said that the party had given people a secure and stable governance.
However, when reporters questioned the party's inability to check moral policing in the district after returning to power, he had no answer and remained silent.
