Kasargod, Aug 18: A 38-year-old man was hacked to death by a gang at Naykap near Kumble in Kasaragod district last night.
Harish, a local resident, was found lying in a pool of blood on the road about a hundred metres away from his home.
A pedestrian who noticed him, immediately passed on information to the Kumble police. The police took the critically injured Harish to Kumble hospital and then to a private hospital here, but Harish's life could not be saved.
Harish had been working for an oil mill, Bhagavathi Mill, at Naykap for past 15 years. He was returning home after duty hours when he was attacked by unknown persons.
The police said that grievous injuries he received in his neck and head regions caused Harish's death. The police believe this to be a murder backed by personal enmity. They are also exploring the possibility of any other angle to this murder.
