Mangalore, November 18: Mangalore police on Thursday confirmed that they have arrested seven people in connection with the murder of Sandeep Shetty, who was murdered on November 13 in Ullal.
According to a press release posted on the blog of the Commissionerate, Sandeep Shetty was hacked to death by sharp weapons in his house at around 10.10 p.m. when he came out of his house in Someshwar, Uchil, to answer a phone call.
Police identified the arrested as Keshav alias Joni alias Choni (21) from Someshwar, Suraj (23) from Kotekar, Bhushan (22) of Someshwar, Nishant alias Nishu (19) of Ullal, Chetan alias Chetu of Kolya; Preethesh alias Preethu (19) Naringana village in Bantwal taluk, and Sandesh alias Sandhu (22) Saanur village in Karkala taluk.
Sources said that Keshav has confessed to police that he was the first to strike a blow to Sandip's neck with a sharp weapon.
Police said that after being attacked by Keshav, the victim rushed into his house where other attackers followed him and struck on his neck and head with swords again. Although, Sandeep was rushed to the hospital, he had succumbed to his injuries.
