Man arrested for beheading infant in ‘human sacrifice to idol’

Bankura, January 30: A tantrik sadhu has been arrested in West Bengal's Bankura district for allegedly offering a human sacrifice to idol of Kali maatha.

Lakkhikanto Karmakar was arrested after villagers yesterday found him performing rituals at a temple with the head of a human infant.

The sadhu later hung the infant's head as a garland around the idol's neck.

Villagers caught hold of the sadhu and thrashed him. The police arrived later and arrested him. He was produced in court today. The infant's body has yet to be recovered.
