Bangalore, February 10: A 23-year-old man went out in the wee hours of Thursday with his close friend for a bike ride, only to be brought home dead.
David John, the only child of hearing impaired parents, was so passionate about ‘wheelies and toeing’ that he ignored the traffic police signboards reading ‘Speed thrills, but kills’.
According to Ashoknagar police, John’s parents Albert John and Silius were separated a few years ago and their son was the bonding factor between them.
The young man, who was struggling to complete his studies, was passionate about taking part in adventurous activities.
Early Thursday morning, John left his Austin Town hresidence on his bike along with Praveen Raj.On the Ejipura Road, he did some wheelies and then vroomed off towards Koramangala. At Srinivasapura Junction, he lost control over the bike and rammed the two-wheeler into a car parked along the road.
John died on the spot and Praveen, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries. Local residents and passersby informed the police, who rushed to the spot and took them to a hospital where John was declared brought dead.
Praveen is undergoing treatment. “Praveen has injuries all over his body and has broken his hands. He was in an unconscious state when he was brought to hospital,” said a policeman. Praveen is doing BCom through distance education.
A pall of gloom descended on Austin Town where people thronged his house to console his parents.
