Plus-two student stabbed to death following fracas

Madurai, April 10: A plus-two student was stabbed to death by a gang in Virudhunagar on the wee hours of Monday. Police have arrested eight persons in this connection.


Police said, M Ramesh (17) son of Mahalingam, and his brother Satheesh (16), an SSLC student, who is appearing for the examination now had gone to an exhibition on Sunday, along with some others.


The boys had allegedly got into a quarrel with another group from Alamarathupatti near Tirumangalam in Madurai which resulted in a fight.


Onlookers intervened and sent them off. But, the gang from Madurai allegedly came to the locality where Ramesh was residing and picked up a quarrel early in the morning on Monday. Balakrishnan (19) had allegedly stabbed Ramesh, killing him on the spot. His brother Satheesh sustained head injuries.


Virudhunagar west police registered a case and arrested eight of the nine accused.
