Udupi, April 18: With two more heads of cattle dying at Henberu hamlet coming under the Paduvari Gram Panchayat limits near Byndoor in Udupi district on Tuesday, the number of dead cattle in the last six days has hit 78.
Nagaraj Marvanthe, Veterinary Officer, Byndoor, informed that the samples of the dead and ailing cattle had been collected by the scientists from the Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals (IAHVB) from Shimoga during their visit to the hamlet a few days ago.
The samples had been sent for testing to Bangalore. The results were expected on Wednesday. The 78 heads of dead cattle belonged to 13 families in Henberu hamlet.
