Mumbai, May 31: Two children reportedly suffocated to death inside a car in Mumbai's suburban Ambernath area on Wednesday.

The police's First Information Report (FIR) says that 10-year-old Shivshankar and eight-year-old Ravishankar got into the car while playing. The two children got trapped after the car got locked due to its central locking.

The children lived in a MHADA colony at Badlapur and the Maruti Zen was parked in the compound.

Relatives say that the children went missing from Tuesday afternoon after they went out to play. The parents even filed a missing person's report.

The bodies were noticed by some children playing in the area. When the owner of the car unlocked the car, the two children were found dead.

Some relatives, however, have alleged that the children were killed and dumped in the car.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem.
