Hyderabad, October 17: The Telugu Desam Party, the main Opposition in Andhra Pradesh, has alleged that a minister from Anantapur district was behind the mysterious death of Kannada and Telugu film actress Hemashree.
Telugu Desam Party senior leader Varla Ramaiah told the media at Vijayawada on Tuesday that Hemashree’s husband Surendra Babu and two former Congress corporators had tried to use Hemashree as a “bait” for a minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Demanding the resignation of Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Ramaiah said the state government was trying to hush up the investigation of the case.
“The police know the name of the minister involved in the crime. Let the minister name the culprit if she has any moral responsibility,” Ramaiah said.
Rayalaseema Range IG Govind Singh told the media in Anantapur that there was no political pressure on the police to hush up the case.
