Four of family dies in accident

Arsikere (Hassan dist), Aug 6: Four members of a family were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a KSRTC bus at Bendekere on the Arsikere-Banavara road on Monday morning.

The dead are retired superintendent of KPTCL Bettegowda, 60, his son Jagadish, 35, Jagadish’s wife Kumuda, 28, and the couple’s 18-month-old son Dhanush.

Bettegowda‘s wife Nagamma, 55, suffered serious head injuries and is battling for life at a hospital in Bangalore.

The family of 10 had been on a weekend trip to the Jog Falls in two cars, and were on their way back after a visit to a relative’s house when one of the cars met with the accident. The bus was on its way from Hassan to Hubli.

The car driver rammed the vehicle into the bus while trying to overtake an autorickshaw.
