Thane, Aug 24: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by an unidentified person in Thane district's Bhiwandi area. According to a tweet by news agency, the incident took place on Thursday evening. Police informed that investigation into the matter is underway and a case has been registered in the matter. According to reports, the gruesome incident took place around 5.40 PM at Mankoli village near Bhiwandi. An investigation into the matter is underway and a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) has been registered.
According to a news agency report, the girl was alone at home when an unidentified man entered the house and raped her. The man strangled the minor, an official from Narpoli police station informed, adding that the assailant also forced her head into a tub of water which probably caused the death.
The minor's rape and murder incident comes months after another minor was gang-raped in Bhiwandi. Reports by Police inform that three men were arrested in connection with the case. The accused, who are all in their 20s, have identified as Imran Khan, Javed Shaikh and the third one known only as Kinna.
Earlier this week, two people, including the victim's husband, were arrested for allegedly raping a newly-married minor on Holi in March this year. An official said that the incident happened on March 14 when the 17-year-old victim, along with her husband, had gone to a relative's place in Badlapur.
