Mangalore, Dec 29: The silver jubilee celebrations of Jamiyyatul Falah, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, drew to a close at a valedictory ceremony which saw the participation of personalities such as union minister M Veerappa Moily, state ministers U T Khader and Ramanath Rai, former minister B A Moideen, educationist Y Abdullah Kunhi and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr M V Moily said that the society should be empowered through institutions that work towards the upliftment of the society.
“A country is considered a successful democracy where its minorities live in peace. This (India) is not a country where a particular religion is subjected to persecution. Although malevolent forces have constantly tried to fragment the country since the time of the British, the country has remained as one today, since we have built it on the basis of trust,” he said.
Chancellor of Yenepoya University Y Abdullah Kunhi said that it was inspiring to witness the upliftment of the poor sections of the society by Jamiyyatul Falah which rendered yeoman service to unprivileged members of the community. Their service will inspire several others to follow in their footsteps and emulate their efforts, he said.
Akshara Santha Harekala Hajabba was felicitated on the occasion.
Islamic educational institutions such as Crescent School, Bunder, Noorul Huda Education Trust, Katipalla, Tauheed Education Trust, Gangolli, Mountain View School, Puttur and Green View School, Sullia were recognised for their efforts in the field of education.
Forest Minister B Ramanath Rai, Health Minister U T Khader, Ameer of JF, NRCC Akhtar Sheikh and others spoke during the ceremony.
JF President Saduddin M Salihi welcomed the gathering and made the introductory remarks.
