Mangalore, Dec 3: In a protest meet held on Monday in front of deputy commissioner's office, Mangalore People's Democratic Party (PDP) urged state government to release its party leader Abdul Nasser Ma'adani, who was arrested in connection to the serial blasts in Bangalore. Ma'adani has been named as the 31st accused in the July 25, 2008, serial blasts, which killed a woman. He was arrested from Anwarsseri, Kollam, on August 17, 2010.
V T Rajashekar, founder and editor of the Dalit Voice speaking at the protest said, “Behind the arrest of PDP leader Ma'adani, the RSS played a vital role. The Sangh Parivar planned in sending Ma'adani behind the bars. It is a plan of dominating caste of India, which heads the RSS.”
“During the inauguration of PDP, I was locked inside the room of a lodge at Thiruvananthapuram and asked not to come out of the room. Same time Ma'adani was also arrested by the police. In Coimbatore blast case Ma'adani was proven innocent but Karnataka police arrested him and kept in jail for a year without having any charges. This was an act of the past BJP government to tag Muslims as terrorist and to divide the Hindus and the Muslims,” he alleged.
Since the beginning India is ruled by upper classes while the minority and scheduled caste are kept away from power. Upper caste, which is 15 to 20 percent in India is ruling the country and creating problem, he stated.
Speaking about Ma'adani's contributions V T Rajashekar said, “Ma'adani is not a terrorist. He worked for the betterment of community and society by raising the voice for schedule caste, schedule tribe and minorities. But the BJP and the RSS are trying to divide community and dominate,” he said demanding release of Ma'adani.
Devi Prasad Shetty, Malakkad Sha of PDP among others were present.
