Mangaluru, Mar 19: A mass protest will be organised by likeminded Muslim organisations of Dakshina Kannada in front of the deputy commissioner's office in the city on Friday, March 20, demanding proper action against the Mangalore One School for allegedly defending a rapist and the arrest of a student who insulted Prophet on Facebook.
The main demand of the protestors is fast-track court inquiry and swift justice in the case of sexual abuse of a nursery student by a school van driver and stringent action against the school, said a press release.
A meeting was conducted by Dakshina Kannada Muslim organisations presided over by Samyukta Jamaat Council president and former mayor K Ashraf at Muslim Central Committee office on Wednesday, where it was decided to hold a mass demonstration urging swift justice in both the cases, said the release.
It was decided that the protests would continue until suitable action was taken against the perpetrator of the sexual abuse of the nursery student and the management board of Mangalore One school where the girl studied.
The press release also said that the protestors would urge that the miscreants who targeted and damaged Muslim religious centres, and carried out vigilante attacks against Muslims in the district should be booked under the Goonda Act. Legal action should also be taken against BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy for making derogatory remarks on masjids recently, it said.
