Mangaluru, Oct 28: The Dakshina Kannada district police have managed to catch the main suspect in connection with the crude bomb explosion at the house of Narayana Prasad, a caterer at Polya in Kabaka village near Puttur, Dakshina Kannada.
The arrested has been identified as Babu alias Balan (60), a resident of Ernakulam. He allegedly committed the crime on October 15, after he was removed from the work by Narayana Prasad. The accused was also staying at the victim’s house as a tenant until being sacked from the work.
Balan allegedly used rock blasting explosives to make a crude bomb that was blasted at the house. Due to the blast, Narayana and his wife Shalini, 35, were severely injured.
According to police, he had planted about three bombs, one of which exploded. The remaining two bombs were recovered by the police. Three police teams were formed to nab the accused. The accused was produced before the court, which remanded him in police custody for five days.
