Mangaluru, Jul 3: A case has been booked against the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Meenakshi Shantigodu by the Women’s Police station on the charges of allegedly threatening a doctor in the Government Hospital, Puttur on Wednesday.
According to police, Dr Archana, a Paediatrician, working in the government hospital, had registered a case against the ZP President in connection with obstructing her while discharging duty.
In her complaint, Dr Archana stated that she was attending to patients on June 29 when Meenakshi visited the hospital shouted at her.
She questioned the doctor about a girl who is being treated in this hospital. Dr Archana refused to say anything as there is no provision to reveal this information as per medical regulations. Meenakshi then obstructed the doctor from checking her patients. She also got the video of the scene of her taking the doctor to task recorded through her supporters. It is said that this video was uploaded in social website.
A case has been registered under the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009, against Meenakshi.
