Eastern Arabia emerge champions of Al Turki EPCA T20 cricket tourney

Finals of Al Turki T20 Cricket tournament organized by Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA) which is affiliated to Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) is played between two best teams of eastern region Eastern Arabia and KLV Al Khodari Khan 11 CC

Saudi Cricket Centre is the official governing body of the sport of cricket in Saudi Arabia. SCC is Saudi Arabia's representative at the International Cricket Council and is an affiliate member and has been a member of that body since 2003. It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council

Saudi Arabia became 39th Associate Member of International Cricket Council in June 2016.EPCA organizes many tournament professionally every year under SCC and make the way for the talented cricketers to move forward in their cricket career through a selection process and all the support required

In the finals winning the toss skipper of EA Mr Imran opted to bat first. Mr Surjit Lally and Mr Niaz Ahmed Opened the innings. KLV Khodari Khan 11 was on the top claiming 3 quick wickets for just 28 runs. Then Captain Mr Imran and Mr Shijil Ahmed were at the crease and they started to build the innings slowly and made a strong match winning partnership of 90 runs which was broken in the 13th over. Captain Mr Imran got out on 39 (25 balls). After dismissal of Mr Shijil, Mr Afwan stepped in and rotated the strike running quick between wickets.

KLV Khodari Khan 11 had to stop the run flow. Mr Ali Rizwan took in-charge to ball against the wind to control the run flow and got the valuable wicket of Mr Afwan Karkala. Next in was the In-form batsman Mr Naushäð who played the cameo to score firing 32 (16balls) and stayed unbeaten. Eastern Arabia CC gave a target of 192 runs for KLV Khodari Khan 11

Eastern Arabia filled with spinner and having just one fast bowler. Mr Ashraf Mukka the power-play power-pack bowler was introduced to ball the very first over. Spinner gave the 1st break through getting the wicket of Mr Murad. The leggy just went sliding through the strong defense of Mr Murad thrashing into the stumps. Then reliable Mr Nadeem stepped In

Mr Nadeem and Mr Safdar started to build the innings for KLV Khodari Khan 11 .But Mr Safdar fell for Mr Surjith who was caught in boundary by Mr Muzahir

KLV Khodari Khan 11 tried their best to cover up the run rate but EA bowlers never let it to happen and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. KLV Khodari Khans-11 required 47 runs in the last two over and crucial 19th over was bowled by Mr Shijil who bowled superbly and conceded 10 runs. KLV Khodari Khan 11 requiring 37 runs in the last over which was tough but not impossible. EA knew Match is not over until the final delivery.

Captain Mr Imran bowled the last over and completed the formality. In the end KLV Khodari Khan 11 lost the match by 18 runs and both team kept the spirit of the game till the end

MOM – Mr Shijil for his valuable 61 runs and took 1 wicket 24 runs in his 4 over

Dr Syed Anwar Khursheed, one of the longest-serving Indian physicians in Saudi Arabia, was honored with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award on Friday, the highest honor conferred by India's president on nationals based overseas. Dr. Khursheed, born in Gulbarga, Karnataka, has dedicated over 40 years of his life to the Kingdom. He served for three decades at King Faisal Hospital in Taif and nearly a decade as a Royal Protocol physician in Riyadh. His work extended to the COVID-19 response and overseeing critical care operations for Hajj pilgrims.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Khursheed has made significant contributions to education, founding the International Indian School in Taif and providing guidance for other schools catering to the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, established in 2003, celebrates exceptional contributions of overseas Indians in various fields, including medicine, community service, and education. Dr. Khursheed was among 27 recipients of this year's award and the only one from Saudi Arabia. He received the honor from President Droupadi Murmu.

India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Suhel Ajaz Khan, highlighted Dr. Khursheed’s distinguished 45-year career in public healthcare and his role in the Medical Protocol Department of the Royal Saudi Family for eight years. He also oversaw critical care during the Hajj program at Minah and Arafat.

Khan emphasized that the award recognizes Dr. Khursheed’s outstanding contributions to medical science, healthcare, and the welfare of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, marking a moment of great pride for the Indian diaspora in the Kingdom.
