Mumbai, Mar 31: Mumbai police have registered a case against unknown persons after TV actor Mona Singh lodged a complaint about an objectionable MMS clip on the social networking sites.
Police said they were trying to find out the IP address of the computer from where the clip was uploaded.
Police suspects that the culprit(s) is someone known to the actor.
"We suspect involvement of some local elements and we are trying to trace the IP address of the computer from where it was uploaded," a police officer said.
A case was registered yesterday under the Information Technology Act.
Actress Mona Singh is hoping that the culprit behind the morphed video gets caught soon.
"It is just completely disgraceful that someone on the web can go to the extent of morphing my face onto someone else's body to create a sensational video. We have filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Cell and are hoping to find the culprit," Singh said.
The actress, who rose to stardom by starring in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi on TV, feels actors are often the target of such videos.
" People need to realise that before being actors we're respectable women and have family and friends who we're answerable to and who get affected by negativity that is thrown in our direction. This is a very serious issue of morphed false videos of actors and it needs to stop," Singh added.
