Actor Shruthi's marriage questioned in court

Bangalore, Jun 22: Manjula, wife of Chandrachud, the journalist who married Kannada actress Shruthi, has filed a petition in the family court seeking to declare her husband’s second marriage null and void.

The petition filed by Manjula says that Chandrachud cannot marry as per Section 11 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 when his first wife is still alive. Manjula’s advocate Dharma Gopal said that Chandrachud had not sought divorce from his first wife and that his marriage to Shruthi was illegal.

The petitioner has also filed for injunction restraining Chandrachud and Shruthi living together as husband and wife. Manjula has said she was kept in the dark about her husband’s marriage to Shruthi which took place on June 6, 2013 in Kollur.

The petitioner has said that her husband has not sought any permission from her for his second marriage. Chandrachud was married to Manjula for the past 14 years and the couple have a daughter.
