Mumbai, Aug 30: Veteran actor Manoj Kumar has finally decided to withdraw the cases against Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan for defaming him in his 2007 movie Om Shanti Om.

In the movie directed by Farah Khan, SRK had apparently poked fun at Manoj Kumar by spoofing the veteran actor’s signature palm-on-face style. Kumar had first raised objection in 2008 right after the movie was released.

Back then, Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan, led by the late Yash Chopra, had made peace with Manoj Kumar with SRK assuring him that the objectionable scenes would be deleted. However, when Om Shanti Om had its international release earlier this year, Manoj Kumar was shocked to see the scenes spoofing him were there in the movie. The veteran then took a legal recourse.

But now Manoj Kumar has decided to withdraw the cases. His lawyer Rizwan Siddique says the cases are being withdrawn because Shahrukh has shown no sign of remorse.

In his words, the cases have failed to bring “some sense of responsibility to Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan”, so they are being withdrawn.
