Kalaburagi, Dec 1: Sandalwood actor Chetan, who is also member of Film Industry for Rights and Equity (FIRE) formed Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), appealed to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to refer all sexual harassment complaints they receive to the Committee for investigation.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that the FIRE is a registered body with Ms Kavita Lankesh as Chairperson. "With more instances of harassment of women in the film industry coming to light, the FIRE has appealed to the KFCC to refer all sexual harassment complaints they receive to the Committee", he added.
He said that FIRE was was formed 18 months ago by a group of people including actors, directors and technicians, who have been vocal for the need to address sexual harassment women in the industry.
Mr Chetan said FIRE has already submitted a letter to KFCC in this regard. “FIRE is an independent body and we are in the process of urging the KFCC, the various associations including the Artists, Producers and Directors’ Associations and so on to transfer the complaints to us.
