Riyadh, Dec 12: An expatriate driver hailing from Karnataka lost his life in road mishap occurred in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Latheef Moideen, a resident of Mudigere in Chikmagalur district. He was working for a transportation company named Al-Baig Transportation since two years.
The bus overturned when the driver Latheef lost control over it and he died on the spot, it is learnt. The body is preserved in King Fahad Hospital Al Hasa.
The victim is the brother-in-law of Basheer, a lawyer in Dammam. He is survived by his two brothers working in the same company, two elder sisters besides a large number of relatives and friends.
Since Latheef was one of the drivers in Umra trips, he was a known person among the Mangalorean expat community in the Dammam, Khobar and Jubail region.
NRI sources said that efforts are underway to secure the possession of the body and send back to India for the last rites.
The paper works and other formalities from Indian Embassy, hospital and police station are expedited with the help of IFF Al Hasa and Riyadh Community Welfare members, sources said.
Mangaloreans residing in Dammam and surrounding areas expressed their grief over the sad demise of Latheef.
